Most people feel like they’re stuck in a major rut at least once in their lives. It’s like you can’t shake the feeling of being burnt out, being stuck in one place and not going anywhere; even though you don’t have any idea where to go. It’s like you can’t see in color, you’re just following a routine and you’re getting deeper and deeper.

Our own expectations and standards, as well as our reactions, have a huge impact on the way we handle a stressful situation. Just imagine how you’d feel if you’re constantly worrying about losing a couple of pounds and you’re always comparing yourself to others – even though you’re doing everything humanly possible to reach your goal, the constant stress of your own expectations and all that pressure coming from society makes it unbearable. Wouldn’t it be nice to get rid of all that stress?

Life is too short for me to listen to your questionable truth and let you mess with my head. It’s too short for me to be protective of the ruins of our love and try holding on to something that is long gone.

I don’t want an Instagram feed full of romantic photos of us, I don’t want Facebook to show I’m not single any more. I’m after the real thing and that’s not it.

All species have their unique signals for mate attraction. We call them courtship displays. Dolphins dance around their mates in order to exhibit their desire, great crested grebes present their mates with fish. But what about us? What do we do when someone catches our eye?

Let me tell you a story about a heart that was so deep, it had emotions that didn’t even know about each other.

Let me start with a disclaimer: I am not a relationship expert, I have no knowledge of a "secret formula" to a happy relationship; but since we talk so much about the shortcomings of a partner, I thought it's worth having a look at what we're doing wrong. I'm not saying you'll find Prince Charming right away but it might be helpful to consider some of the things we do, even on a subconscious level, not to find The One.

We're so different - maybe that's why we attract each other so strongly. I'm mesmerized by his quietness, his inscrutability - it's not like that annoying, intentional kind of unpredictability; it's something different. I don't mean to analyze him or label him an "introvert", he's just so different, so unique, with his inquiring eyes and soft voice.
