Let me start with a disclaimer: I am not a relationship expert, I have no knowledge of a "secret formula" to a happy relationship; but since we talk so much about the shortcomings of a partner, I thought it's worth having a look at what we're doing wrong. I'm not saying you'll find Prince Charming right away but it might be helpful to consider some of the things we do, even on a subconscious level, not to find The One.

Certain people lack the ability to consider others and put themselves in somebody else’s shoes - they are just that self-centered. How do you deal with such a person?

It's really easy to stay in a relationship that's not working very well. The reason for that is that we're too lazy to change and also we're afraid of change and we tend to think that being in a not so good relationship is still better than being alone. Or we might not realize that we're in a relationship that's bringing us down instead of lifing us up. A couple of months ago, I didn’t think I would ever love again. My partner of eight years left me. We were planning our wedding and he just left me. But then, the impossible happened: I fell in love again. I fell in love with you. I listened to my heart. Was I too hasty? I love you, I want to love you but you wouldn’t let me and that hurts.
